Danzil to Anse Major - The trail follows part of the rocky coastline of Northwest Mahe and leads to a
small secluded beach called Anse Major. Much of the trail lies within the boundaries of the Morne
Seychellois National Park. The trail is graded as EASY and it follows the contours of the land passing
spectacular rock slopes and native vegetation typical of the drier areas of Mahe. The walk should take
you no longer than one and a half hours to reach Anse Major as the trail only has short ascents
and descents. The walk is normally quicker on return and is by the same route. An early start is
recommended as there is very little shade.
Glacis to Anse Etoile - This trail follows minor roads across the northern hills of Mahe. These drier,
previously eroded hills are clothed in coconuts and secondary vegetation. From Glacis there is a fairly
steep climb between a few houses to the hamlet of La Gogue and a gentler descent to the picturesque
reservoir behind La Gogue Dam. A choice of two routes are then available to Anse Etoile. The trail is
graded as EASY. The walk is around three hours long and should be taken early in the day as there is
some exposure to the sun. Buses are frequent from Anse Etoile.
Victoria/Beau Vallon - This walk can be done in either direction. Some of the walk is by the main road in
which care should be taken. The remainder of the walk is by minor roads in which you pass through a
historical part of Victoria. There are several small shops which can sell refreshments along the way.
The walk is designated EASY but there is one steep section which ever direction you travel in. The walk
should take you around one and a half hours. Local buses and taxis are frequent along the main roads.
Les Trois Freres - The Trois Freres path leads through a section of the Morne Seychellois National Park
to the summit of the mountain overlooking Victoria. This is a spectacular walk amongst some of the most
beautiful forest and views anywhere in the world. However it is not an easy walk and is very steep and is
exposed to the sun in places. It will take about two hours to reach the summit and around one hour for
the return journey. You must take care not to stray from the path as there is danger of falling amongst the
boulders or getting lost amongst the thick undergrowth.
Tea Factory to Morne Blanc - Another spectacular walk amongst the fantastic foliage of the Morne
Seychellois National Park. Apart from a short steep section at the start of the trail this is a shaded and
steady climb that should only take around one hour to reach the summit which is 667m above sea level.
Along the way you will be able to see many of the fascinating and diverse plant community which is
unique to Seychelles. The walk is graded as MEDIUM and it is recommended that an early start is taken
to avoid the sun and mountain mist which sometimes form later in the day.
La Reserve and Brulee - La Reserve contains one of the best areas of palm forest remaining on Mahe.
Five of the six unique palms of Seychelles are present along this MEDIUM graded walk. The backdrop
of granite cliffs and boulders adds to the splendour of the rich tropical forests that are present. There are
several different routes available, two to three hours are recommended depending on which route is
taken.
Val Riche to Copolia - Although the majority of the walk is through shady forest the summit of Copolia
is exposed to direct sun 500 meters above sea level. The summit offers fantastic views overlooking the
east coast of Mahe and on a clear day it is possible to spot up to fourteen other islands. As some of the
segments are slightly difficult and require a minimum amount of climbing it has been designated a
MEDIUM walk in which two hours is required to reach the summit and then return.
Anse Royale to Anse a la Mouche - An EASY graded walk through a historical area of Mahe. Often
passing small settlements and scattered houses it allows you a glimpse of life away from the hustle
and bustle of Victoria. It will take you three to four hours to complete this walk depending on which route
you take and it is possible to visit an old chapel and two cemeteries as well as some startling vegetation.
Local buses are available on completion of the walk.
